Move over boys, we are pimping out the blogosphere
I’ve been thinking, and discussing how we needed a new blogging evangelist. All of our current blog evangelists are middle class white males who for the most part are unattractive. We need a huge celebrity sex symbol. We need a girl. I drew up a quick list. I thought well we need a good midwestern girl. Cuz all i ever hear anyone say is “What coast is that blogger from ?”. Shit we need a sexy mid western blogger who knows how to type. Who can proofread. And isn’t involved in a blog network, or any sort of biased, conflict of interest web venture.
Ok, that in and of itself just eliminated 90% of the women in the blogosphere. I set out on a road trip. Ok, a google trip. It’s about like an old fashioned acid trip, or a salvia trip but not nearly as exciting I searched high and low. Across the entire blogosphere. I pinged Xiaxue again. I beeped at Angelina. I rang Meme. I bonked Melissa. I honked at Liz. I considered for a moment Violet Blue. Nick Denton even almost snuck into the polling. In the end the choice was a no-brainer.
The new official unofficial spokesman spokespersona for the blogosphere is Amanda Chapel. She’s hawt. She’s as real as the rest of the internet. She’s got more bang for the buck than the average PR Spook from Edelman.
However if she turns this position down then we could be stuck with another 5 years of Dave Winer, Steve Rubel, and NIck Denton “leading” this movement towards open communication which we all know the world can’t handle. Instead let’s live our dreams of a gorgeous girl with brains,boobs,and well filling us up with intellectual porn. Yet independent enough to drop out, fail out of Law School. She’s every bloggers dream. And everything we wish we could have and yet couldn’t handle. And if she’s the spokespersona than we will continue to believe the internet is only as big as our own borders. Yes. Long live the new spokespersona. Sorry boys no links. Saving my pagerank for the girl. Long live the new more girly blogosphere.

This is a test of a new design we are banging out. It’s a template Chris Pearson did for Andy Hagans. We are banging out some customization for it however. I wanted something more simple. Less high color and more reflection. Less uber. More huber. And I’m a selfless promoter. It’s a fun little mix. Everyone needs to change the clothes now and again.

Although this is already a pretty feature-rich template, Andy will release future versions that come equipped with support for popular plugins like FlickrRSS and also the ever-present Related Entries plugin (which is umm, riiiight).
The default version of the template, which will become available to the public today, only needs one graphic and a few icons in order to pull off its look.
I felt like themes that made proper use of the Georgia font face were lacking, and I wanted to produce something reminiscent of a classy newspaper. Image handling is robust and clean, which adds to the potential publishing capabilities of the theme.
I’m getting long winded here, so I’ll save the rest of the info for my own site.

Hey, I like the new look. It feels more open, and a bit more “mature”, not that the previous look was bad, but if I had to choose I’d pick this one.
