ProBlogging.com
If you just read my previous post You will see my vision to move beyond blogging, into the mainstream. So why would I go out and select a domain name like ProBlogging if we wanted to move beyond the incestous blogger community and into the mainstream? Investing time and money on a domain that would trap us into the blogging mindset?
Truthfully I wanted to be able to create a community that empowered people to be able to take up blogging whether that’s the at home mom, or the college student, or the CEO. I wanted to help people who wanted to make six figures from blogging or just some extra money for baby clothes.
To me blogging for the most part is made up of the middle class white male. This is my vision for ProBlogging. To move past that. To be able to bring at home moms, college students, grandparents into the mix. To give them a better chance to make money with their blogs. To create simple, affordable ways fo make money online.
Truthfully we don’t need another blog about blogging. We need a central location in which to empower people to achieve their dreams through the simple tools of communcation. Whether making money is your goal, or building up your business through the power of blogging.
I wanted to find a talented writer to write for me. Someone who would write with passion, and a vision already implanted. I found that in Ben Bleikamp. Next, I needed to get the brightest minds in the blogging industry to share their content in order to help make this dream become a reality. I figured this would be the easy part. Ask a few leaders in the blogging community to share their site feeds. A funny thing happened, the bigger players said sure. Let’s see this thing grow. The smaller and medium players have yet to respond. Interestingly enough. I find this mind numbing.
Next I wanted to get a few readers involved in the process of shaping this blog. Over the next few weeks I be will opening this community up to a few select folks. If you want to participate in some initial feedback in our community and have some spare time to take some surveys, and share your advice. I would love to hear it. Just post a comment below and I will send you an invite, and ask for your advice. Because ultimately this is about our readers.

This all sound much like Problogger.net to me.
Is it a copy-cat or not?
Erno said this on January 26, 2006 3:34 pm
Def Not. Our focus is not so much how do we make money with our blogs and more like How do we use our blogs to make money. For example how can I turn my blog into a my very own sales package. Now I think people should have monetization advice and what not. But no def not a copycat site.

No, definitely no copycat.
David does need to copy anything. He’s got his own path mapped out.
