The Ten Evilest and Mostly Unethical Blogging Hacks

Recently Steve Rubel had a few good ideas. We have a few others. But this time its all about how to get get around the rules and not get delisted on Google, or banned by Technorati, and or booted from Google Adsense. First rule of BlogClub don’t talk about BlogClub.
#1 Hack Splogs
One of my favorite places to go comment spamming is on all those fucking splogs that blogspot hosts.
Their easy to find as they rank really high in Google’s algorithm, and since no one updates the fucking content. It’s easy to get listed on google if you spam there.
#2 Hack Elitists
It’s always better to piss people off than it is to cozy up to them. I have found that no one needs new blog friends but what all these stuck up folks need is someone to throw stones at them. A few really great people to piss off are Joi Ito, Jason Calacanis, Nick Denton, Jeremy Wright, Jason Kottke, and Jen Chung. They get upset and tell all there friends to not visit your site. In turn everyone visits your site.
#3 Hack Memeorandum
This is a sure way to get listed by a bunch of idiots on the internet. Half the people don’t read the posts anyways they just link. That’s what Gothamist did for us. Thanks guys. For more info on Hacking Memeorandum go here
#4 Hack Technorati/Google Blogsearch
Create mindless drivel on what’s the rage in the blogging world. You know post on popular topics while popular people are posting about you. All the while watch your stats start getting pounded from random places on Google and Technorati.
#5 Hack Calacanis’ Gmail Account
login : calacanis (at) gmail.com password : acidreflux
Send emails to all his friends, and execs at AOL with your website link. His contact list has 627 people so its a sure fire way to get a lot of traffic. And while your in his email read that juicy one between him and Nick.
#6 Talk about Chitika
It appears everyone, who is anyone is doing it. It’s working for me. It should work for you. Another link to chitika.
#7 Hack Google
First off Google is dumb. The best way to end up on the top of Google is to talk about Google, and post a lot of links that are already at the top of Google, using the keyword you are talking about. The key here use lots of popular links. In doing so Google get’s confused and you wind up at the top of the list.
#8 Hack Gender Controveries
Call as many men women and vice versa. It works. Trust me.
#9 Hack Forums
Sign up for some forum that’s popular and put your blog link in your signature. It’s an old trick that everyone forgets about. Start posting regularly. Atleast 2 a day. In fact we recommend more. We recommend you start spamming your favorite forums.
#10 Hacking Adwords
The best way to get free traffic is to steal someone’s credit card and buy a bunch of ads on Adwords, you don’t have to pay for it and its a sure fire way to end up with a lot of traffic and in jail.
In Closing,
Be safe and don’t get caught.

Cute – you used Darren Rowse’s Chitika affiliate link… Or maybe you’re Rowse’s sinister, ethics-less alter ego.

Michelle, that was my reaction. Especially when Darren just did a post on this referencing Scobles link to anothers Chitika referral.

[...] I just finished reading The Ten Evilest and Mostly Unethical Blogging Hacks. It’s funny… well, mostly it’s funny because it’s just funny. But it’s also funny for me because I used to have a mean streak similar to liberalcowboy’s, waaaay back when the Internet was just starting to take off circa 1996/1997 and IRC had no bots around to keep profanity down to a minimum with auto-kick-bans. (Yes ihos and ihas, I’m that old, even though my mind sometimes doesn’t act it!) Back then, since there weren’t always any ops around, whenever some @$$#0!3 logs into a channel and starts annoying everyone, you had no choice but to annoy back. Me and one or two friends of mine got so good at dissing that pretty soon, there was no need for an op to come around and kick-ban their asses out of the channel — we’d annoy them so bad they’d leave out of frustration and/or embarassment! Once in a while that streak shows itself, such as when I ranted about “parrot blogging” . Mostly though, I’ve never named names or directly “thrown stones” as liberalcowboy describes in his #3 hack. After reading through all that, though… it kind of makes me wonder… It is soooo tempting and easy to go diss other people… believe me….. ego expressed through wrong grammar irks me to no end, for instance… [...]

The best thing to do is to just be a cat! Cats get all the attention and people like cats better than other people. Put a picture of joe schmoe in front of a person and they’ll be like “meh.” Then give them picture of a cat and they’re like “oooh how cute
!” So, it’s clear that being a cat will give you more attention and therefore more traffic. Meow.

I find it reprehensible and morally repugnant that you are promoting the type of juvenile practices that are making the World Wide Web nearly unmanageable for those of us trying to conduct legitimate Internet business. Please grow up or get off the World Wide Web. It is your immaturity that is forcing my firm to lobby for age restrictions for Internet posting. You won’t be laughing when that bill passes. You’ll be wishing you had been a bit more responsible and mature.

Wow. It seems that there are so many people out there with absolutely nothing to do with their spare time, but BoostHack their own blog to get extra traffic. Why? Do you so lack attention that you actually Crave flamers at your blog? Does it turn you on, to have someone read the What-you-did-last-nights, the emo I-am-so-alones, or every single quiz result you ever had? I don’t get it.
Now I complain alot about not get ANY traffic, and thats because my blog is read by mostly my sister and two other friends. Period. However, reading this I’m starting to think I happen to like it like that…
If all you need is attention, get a cam and become a camwh0re. If what you really like is writing for the sake of writing..
Get a notepad, I guess, because the blogging world is No Longer Safe.
