How to Bootstrap your Fame
So you have this inkling to be famous. But everyone needs a hand up now and again. Guess what. Let me show you the simplest way to overnight success and a way to do it for free! Shit did you catch that free part.
Blogging can be a way to land a book deal. It can lead you to starting your own TV Program. In the future a blogger could be elected president. No the president doesn’t have a blog. Although he promotes them as important to democracy. Let’s get started.
Bootstrapping Your Fame
1) Apply at a blog network
Here’s a great list of the blog networks. I recommend a few personally. I would recommend Know More Media,B5Media, and BlogMedia as great places to get your feet wet. You get a free blog, a free audience, it doesn’t cost you a dime other than your time and commitment. Most of these blog networks allow you to link back to your blog. So while your working on setting up your blog. Blog Away. Let the network finance it. Let them build your name. This is exactly what I did with jack of all blogs. Within my first month in blogging i had about 30,000 monthly pvs and a steady following. And while you can’t expect this, it allows you to really make a go of it. Heck even the Girlspokers have a weekly bit on Playbay Radio. If they can do it. So can you.
2) Start a video blog or a podcast
I’m a bit of a hypocrite with this. I’ve been meaning to do this for a long time. It’s just a matter of technology for me. I just am not any good at this. Although I’ve been working on some viral videos. Let’s take a good instance of videos. There was a tragedy last week in Vancouver, Washington. A young girl was stabbed. As of today a video created in her memory has been viewed over a million times. Viral Videos are amazingly popular. If you want to develop your fame develop a series of viral videos and spread it via MySpace, YouTube, and a personal blog.
3) Release an ebook
I’ve been dilegently working on an ebook. Heck your reading bits and pieces of it scattered around on this blog. It’s about a variety of topics. Mostly its about how to launch a career via blogging. I’ve seen some folks do it. It’s about launching products via blogs. I’ve seen companies do it. It’s about launching your blog into stardom. I’ve seen others do it. If your gonna do anything with your blog. I recommend an ebook. It’s a great way to get your name out there. It’s great for the resume. And it feels so damn good.
By the end of this you’ve spend next to nothing. But your well on your way to blogging stardom. Do me and others a favor. Don’t be shy. Try to respond to every email. The next one might be the one that matters.
